The Crow's Nest guide to planning your wedding in Dartmouth.

Since we opened as a guest house some years it has surprised us how many people come to Dartmouth to get married. Then again, it isn't such a surprise is it? Beautiful place in an area of outstanding natural beauty  wonderful river for cruising along before or after the ceremony. Steam railway for you to arrive in style. Brilliant venues to choose from. And a great climate. You can't go wrong....or can you?

Well we are no wedding planners but we can pass on a few tips from lovely guests that have stayed with us. Sometimes the actual bride and groom to be, some are guests and some have been family. All with stories to tell. It seems that the reason wedding planners are so good has something to do with part of their title - 'planner'
You have to plan, so where do you start?

Over the next few weeks we will be giving you top tips and ideas on how to make the most of planning your special day in one of the most gorgeous places in England to get married....Dartmouth, South Devon.

Dartmouth, South Devon...find out more about the town

People often ask 'why Dartmouth?' Well this short video explains a little about the reasons why everyone loves to come to the town and what to do when you arrive.

This really just scratches the surface of the appeal of Dartmouth. But it would take a very long video to cover it all.
Instead we shall use a series of short films to give you a better understanding of the town and the surrounding area of the South Hams.

This short clip introduces you to one of the best cafes in town - Cafe Alf Resco. Wonderful, friendly, award winning breakfast emporium and just a minute away from our front door! They open 7 days a week between 7am and 2pm. They serve a wide range of breakfasts from toast or porridge and a cup of coffee to the 'full English' A favourite with locals and visitors alike. A visit to Dartmouth is not complete without a stop at Alf's.

Images of Dartmouth - Pinterest

Why we decided to use Pinterest

We decided to use Pinterest, the on-line pin board site causing a sensation by being the fastest growing social media site ever, because it really does work.

Basically it is a site where you can post great images onto virtual boards you create for different subjects. Like creating a different photo album for lots of different subjects. The great thing about this site though is that you can copy or re-pin other peoples images. You can also follow other peoples' boards a bit like following other Facebook pages.

So we thought it would be a good opportunity to build a collection of photos that really show off why people keep coming back to Dartmouth. Try to explain the allure of the area.
It encourages us to find really good pictures of Dartmouth and surrounding areas. It also reminds us to keep taking photos when we are out and about or when something special is happening in town (which is quite often!)

By the way, if you have a Pinterest account, let us know and we will try to follow you and we may invite you to be a guest 'pinner'

The board titles we will be using include: Why Dartmouth? River & Sea, Festivals, Walks, Views, Eat & Drink and Attractions. If you think we have missed a good subject please just let us know and we will consider adding it.

Take a look at our boards and please follow us to make sure you see our latest 'pins'
